The Christmas gift for the person you live with is the hardest one on the list. They know your taste, they've already spotted what you were looking at online, and anything useful has already been bought. One thing is left that nobody else can give: a photo that only the two of you have.
Not a print slipped into an envelope. A framed photo, ready to hang, that will stay on the living-room wall for years. That's what we make here, and here's how to get a result that does it justice.
Choose the photo where you're not posing
It's the only advice that really matters. Posed shots — facing the camera, smiles in place — make nice family photos and poor gifts. They don't tell a story.
Look instead for the one where you're both laughing without looking at the camera. The one from the trip when it rained. The one a friend took across a restaurant table, slightly crooked, that you never printed because it wasn't “good enough”. That's exactly the one. An imperfect but lively photo beats a sharp, empty portrait: framed big, it becomes the thing people comment on every time they walk past.
On the technical side, just one rule: use the original, never a screenshot or a photo forwarded through a messaging app, which will have compressed it. A photo taken on a phone from the last five years works fine at 30 × 40 cm. When you place it in the studio, if the preview looks blurry, the file is too small: pick another photo or go down a size.
Which size for which wall
Size is what makes the difference between “that's sweet” and “wow”. Three sizes, three uses:
- 21 × 29.7 cm: for a desk, a shelf, a bedside table. Discreet.
- 30 × 40 cm: the right choice in most cases. Big enough for a face to read from the sofa, understated enough to hang anywhere.
- 50 × 70 cm: the piece you hang on its own above a sideboard, which becomes the focal point of the living room. Keep it for a photo you truly love.
All of them come in a black wooden frame, 200 g matt paper, delivered assembled: nothing extra to buy, nothing to put together. You hang it and you're done. The 30 × 40 photo frame is the one I'd recommend without hesitation for a first gift of this kind.
The price shown is the price you pay
Shipping is included, even for a single item — in France, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States. No fees appear at the last step, and there's no account to create: you upload the photo, place it on screen and order.
Everything is printed to order at the production site closest to the delivery address. Nothing is kept in stock: your frame doesn't exist until you order it.
The deadline, calculated rather than promised
This is where people get caught out every year. Allow 5 to 10 working days, production included. Working from the top of that range — which is how you should think in December, when carriers are swamped:
- Before 10 December: you're safe, the frame will be there for the 24th.
- Between 10 and 15 December: it should make it, with no guarantee.
- After 15 December: don't count on it for Christmas Eve.
One last word, because it's better to know it before than after: a personalised item is not covered by the right of withdrawal — it's made for you and nobody else. On the other hand, any printing, manufacturing or transport defect is remade or refunded, no questions asked.
Ten minutes, right now
Open your photo gallery, scroll back to last summer, and pick the photo where you're laughing. The rest takes ten minutes in the online studio: upload it, frame it on screen, add a few words if you like, and order.
On 25 December, it won't be one more object. It'll be the living-room wall that changed.
