A family gathering for an 80th takes a while to organise, especially when cousins are travelling from far away. The pack of ten A6 postcards, $25.00, makes invitations people keep: their wedding photo or a picture of them at twenty on the front, the date and place handwritten on the back.
On the day: the gift
During the party, the children and grandchildren hand over a joint present. The 30×40 cm frame, $90.00, with a photo that has come down through the years, wins everyone over. To mark the age, the big-number template (« Gros chiffre » in the studio) puts their photo inside the zero of a large “80”, with the 8 typed in by you. For a photo from the sixties — born in 1946, they turned twenty in 1966 — the Polaroid template suits it well too.
Think about the wall it will hang on: at their home, or in their room at a care home. The 30×40 cm stays light and reads from across the room. For an old photo, check it is sharp enough.
After: the keepsake cards
At the party, take the family photo with everyone in it, every generation together. The next day, upload it to the studio on a new pack of cards: everyone who was there gets one, and so do those who could not come, with a note. There is every chance it ends up on the fridge.
