Twenty-eight pupils at a railway station, two adults, a crowded platform. The group t-shirt is not a gimmick: it is the simplest way to see at a glance whether everyone is there. And once you are home, it is what remains of the trip. Here is how to prepare it without losing three evenings.
Why an identical design changes everything on the ground
In a museum, a theme park or an airport, spotting a single colour ten metres away is far quicker than counting heads. A few principles that work:
- A simple, large design, readable from a distance: a group name, a year, a bold drawing.
- On the back too if you can: you mostly see pupils from behind when they are walking ahead of you.
- The first name in small print under the design: handy for the adults who do not know everyone yet.
- A group leader's phone number, if the school allows it, rather than the full name of the school.
In our online studio, you upload your image, position it on screen, add whatever text you like, and see the result before confirming. No account to create.
Which image to choose when there is no photo yet
A trip is prepared before you leave: so you do not have a photo of it yet. Two approaches that work well.
The pupils' drawing. Have them draw a class logo in black felt-tip on a white sheet, then photograph it in full light, flat, with no shadow. Clean lines come out very well in print. Our page on printing a child's drawing explains the settings.
Last year's group photo. Taken outdoors, in daylight, cropped tight. Check the file size before uploading: our guide to the resolution you need for printing gives the real thresholds.
If you have neither, you can describe the design in a sentence and have the AI draw it — "a mountain and a train in comic-book style", for example — from the page create a t-shirt with AI. Three free attempts, about ten seconds each.
The size problem, solved simply
This is where most group orders get stuck. Our t-shirts are unisex Gildan Heavy Cotton, from S to 2XL. The most reliable method:
- Make a two-column table: first name, size. Send it round once, with a firm deadline.
- Send the size guide with the table: it saves half the back-and-forth.
- For the undecided, go a size up. A slightly loose t-shirt gets worn; a tight one does not.
- Order two or three extra pieces beyond the number signed up. There is always a last-minute sign-up and a size mistake.
If you do not know someone's size, our advice on giving clothing without knowing the size applies to groups too.
What it costs, and the discount from ten
The personalised t-shirt costs $29.00 + shipping. Shipping is added at checkout (free from €50), even for a single piece.
From ten items in the basket, a 10% discount applies automatically; from twenty-five, it is 15%. No code to enter, it appears on its own in the basket. In practice:
- ten t-shirts: $261.00 instead of $290.00;
- twenty-five t-shirts: $616.25 instead of $725.00.
Items add up, even when they are different: fifteen t-shirts and ten tote bags make twenty-five items, so 15%. The page for personalised items in quantity gathers the products concerned. Note that the wooden frames and the canvas are excluded from the discount and do not count towards the threshold.
When to order to stay relaxed
We quote 5 to 10 working days in the UK, Europe and the US, up to 15 elsewhere, production and delivery included. Nothing is held in stock: every piece is printed to order, in Europe, at the partner site closest to the delivery address.
For a departure, allow plenty of room: three weeks ahead if you want to hand out the t-shirts at a preparation meeting, two weeks at the very least. Add a margin if there are bank holidays or school holidays in between — see our page on delivery times.
We ship across the UK, the EU, Switzerland, the US and Canada. A single address — the school, or the organiser's home — is simpler than one delivery per pupil.
After the trip: what remains
The t-shirt washes and gets worn again: our page on caring for a photo print explains how to keep it sharp (inside out, at 30°, no hot tumble dry).
And when you are back, you finally have the photos. That is the moment for the shared keepsake: a set of postcards with the group photo, one per pupil, or a 2027 calendar with one moment from the trip per month (the month names are printed in French). Here too, ten items are enough to trigger the discount.
Personalised product: it is exempt from the standard right of withdrawal. Any printing, manufacturing or transport defect, on the other hand, is replaced or refunded.
