Seven ideas that work
- The date of birth. The baby’s photo, the name, the date and time. The most given poster, and the one that stays on the wall longest.
- The couple. One photo, cropped on the faces, with a date at the bottom — meeting, wedding, moving in.
- The animal. A dog or cat facing the camera, large. The subject that survives big formats best, because it fills the frame naturally.
- The group of friends. On condition you crop tight: six faces on a poster, not twenty people on a beach.
- Black and white. It rescues a photo with difficult colour — yellow indoor light, hard flash — and immediately looks intended rather than endured.
- The place. The family house, the street you grew up in, the top of a hike. Works better than photos of people for a gift to someone private.

The cropping rule
Just one, and it explains most failed posters: a poster is looked at from a distance, so it needs a single subject. What works on a phone screen held thirty centimetres away — a busy scene, several groups of people, a detailed landscape — becomes unreadable at three metres.
In practice: a subject should fill at least a third of the height. If you have to step closer to recognise someone, it is the wrong photo, or it needs cropping first.
What a poster asks of your file
It is the most demanding product in the range, simply because it is the largest. Use the original, never the copy that went through a messaging app, and at least 2000 pixels on the short side. The studio can crop; it cannot invent what is missing. Figures are on the photo resolution page.
Poster alone, or framed
The poster ships rolled, ready to frame. Three wooden frames exist separately, if you want the gift ready to hang. One thing to know: frames are excluded from the quantity discount and do not count towards the ten-item threshold. The poster alone does count.
