A word on French tax rules

In France, a CSE's gifts to staff are exempt from social contributions as long as they stay within a set share of the monthly social security ceiling, per event and per employee, and are tied to a recognised event (Christmas, a birth, a wedding, retirement, back-to-school, and so on). Beyond that, the tax authority can reclassify the gift as a taxable benefit. Check the current year's ceiling on the French tax authority's own site — this rule is specific to France and doesn't necessarily carry over to other countries.
