Buying a gift for a couple is the trickiest exercise on the list. Two tastes, two styles, and often an apartment that’s already full. The usual reflex—a neutral decorative object, an "experience" box—rarely ends well: either it doesn't feel like "them," or it duplicates something they already have. A photo of them, printed properly, solves the problem in one go. It’s the only gift they can't already have a double of.
Choosing the right photo (that's 90% of the result)
The couple photo that works is almost never the posed one. Professional wedding portraits are beautiful, but they are already framed in their home. Look instead for candid shots: a fit of laughter on a train platform, the two of them from behind facing a landscape, the first apartment still full of boxes, or the dog crashing the scene.
- Both faces sharp and well-lit. If one of them is in the shadows or blurry, move on to the next.
- Space around them. A photo that is too tightly cropped is hard to frame. A little breathing room allows you to adjust to the format without cutting off a shoulder.
- An original, not a screenshot. A photo pulled from Instagram or WhatsApp has lost half its pixels. Ask the person who took it for the original file.
- Check the file size. Below 1 MB, be wary of large formats. Our page on the resolution needed for printing provides specific thresholds.
A quick, foolproof test: open the photo on your phone and zoom all the way into an eye. If it turns into a pixelated mess, it will work on a mug, but not on a 50 × 70 frame.
A frame, for when the gift needs to be seen
For a civil partnership (PACS), moving in together, or a milestone anniversary, a frame is the format that gives the gift its weight. The 30 × 40 cm photo frame is €47.90, black wood, 200g matte paper, delivered pre-assembled—there is nothing to put together, it can be hung on the wall or placed on a shelf the very same day.
The matte finish is a real choice here, not just a detail: it doesn't reflect the ceiling light, so the photo remains legible in a brightly lit living room in the evening. For a bare living room wall, the 50 × 70 at €97.90 acts as a centerpiece. For an entryway or hallway, stick with the 21 × 29.7 at €39.90.
A word of advice on text: if you add a note in the workshop, keep it tiny and factual. A date, a location, two first names. Long sentences don't age well on a wall.
The duo of mugs, for everyday use
This is the least spectacular yet most used idea. Two customized mugs at €16.90 each—325 ml ceramic, dishwasher safe—with two different photos, or the same one on each side. They get used every morning, which a decorative object does not.
For a couple who has just moved in, it’s often more appropriate than a large format: they haven't decided on their decor yet, but they already need cups.
Postcards, the discreet group gift
The set of 10 postcards at €21.90 (A6, 300g paper) is mainly used for two things. Either you give it as a gift in its own right: ten photos of the couple, ten moments, in a pretty box. Or you circulate them before the event so that each guest can write a note on the back, and you offer the complete package on the big day. The second usage works very well for a PACS or a housewarming party.
When a group chips in together
For a group gift from friends, colleagues, or family: if you exceed ten items in your cart, the bulk discount is applied automatically, no code needed. -10% starting from 10 items, -15% starting from 25. The items stack even if they are different: ten mugs, or five mugs and five tote bags, it’s the same. In practical terms, ten mugs come to €152.10 instead of €169.00.
Note one exception: the three wooden frames are excluded from the discount and do not count toward the threshold. If your order mixes a frame and nine mugs, the discount will not be triggered. The page personalized goodies in quantity lists what is included in the calculation.
Planning ahead
Everything is made to order, nothing is in stock: no packages leave the same evening. The site indicates 5 to 10 business days for all products—so count on a week, and leave two weeks of margin if the gift needs to arrive by a specific date like a PACS or an anniversary.
Two points to know before ordering. Shipping is included in the displayed price, even for a single mug—no extra fees pop up at the end. And since this is a personalized product, there is no right of withdrawal (Article L221-28 3° of the Consumer Code): however, any printing, manufacturing, or shipping defect will be replaced or refunded. Delivery is available to France, the EU, the UK, Switzerland and the United States.
The simplest part remains: open the online workshop, upload the photo, position it on screen, and see how it looks before paying. No account to create, and the photo only leaves your browser when you place the order.
