Company greeting cards are always decided too late. By early December the designer is swamped, the budget is frozen and you end up sending a generic email nobody reads. A personalised photo card, prepared at the end of September or in October, costs less than an evening of stress and stands out far more in a business letterbox.

Here is how to do it in practice, with one photo and a line of text, without going through an agency.

Why a photo card rather than a stock card

A card bought off the shelf tells the story of your supplier, not of your year. A card with your own photo tells the story of your team: the June offsite, the workshop, the finished project, the new premises, fifteen people lined up in front of the shop window. Your clients recognise faces they have met — and that is exactly what keeps a card on a desk until February.

Our format is simple: personalised postcards come in packs of 10, A6 (10.5 × 14.8 cm), on 300 g paper, $26.00 a pack, shipping included. The back stays blank for your handwritten message, which ends the endless debate about the official wording.

Which photo to choose for a business card

The classic trap is the group photo taken on a phone against the light, where nobody is recognisable. Three rules are enough:

  • Light first. A photo taken outdoors on an overcast day, or near a window, will always beat a flash photo under strip lights.
  • Frame tightly. On an A6 card, a group of thirty people ten metres away gives thirty pinheads. Two rows, not three.
  • Check the resolution. For a sharp A6, allow at least 1,250 × 1,750 pixels. A file sent through a messaging app is often compressed: get the original from the photographer's phone, not the version received in the chat.

We cover the file question in detail in our guide to photo resolution for printing, which applies to all our products.

How many to order, and what that does to the price

Make the list before ordering: active clients, serious prospects, partners, suppliers, former colleagues. Add a 10% margin for cards spoiled while writing and forgotten addresses. Most small organisations land between 50 and 150 cards.

From 10 items in the basket, a 10% discount applies automatically, and 15% from 25 items. No code to enter: the total recalculates itself in the basket. Ten packs — 100 cards — go from $260.00 to $234.00.

Items add up, even different ones. Take five packs of cards and five mugs for the team and you are at ten items: the discount applies. Only the three wooden frames are excluded and do not count towards the threshold. Everything is explained on the bulk personalised gifts page.

The calendar: the option that stays up for twelve months

If your budget per contact is a little larger, the greeting card has a formidable rival: the calendar. A card ends up in a drawer in January; a personalised A4 photo calendar stays on the office wall all year, with your name on it. in A4, in A3, 14 spiral-bound pages, and a different photo for each of the twelve months of 2027.

Many organisations do both: calendars for the twenty key accounts, cards for the rest of the list. Both count towards the same discount threshold.

The ordering timeline

Nothing is kept in stock: each piece is printed to order, in Europe. Allow 5 to 10 working days for delivery, printing included. It is about a week in normal times; keep a margin in December, a busy month for everyone.

If you want your cards before the end-of-year holidays, the right window is the first half of November. You receive the cards at the end of November, write them calmly and post them in early December. Ordering in October is even more comfortable, especially if the photo has not been taken yet: it leaves time to organise a proper shoot with the whole team.

Our article on when to order a personalised Christmas gift gives the same milestones for the other products.

Three practical points before you check out

  • The price shown is the price paid. Shipping is included, even for a single pack. We ship to France, the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States.
  • No account to create. Upload the photo, place it on screen, add your text, order. The photo only leaves your browser when you pay.
  • Personalised product, so no right of withdrawal. Any printing, manufacturing or transport defect, however, is reprinted or refunded.

The longest part of all this is choosing the photo. The rest takes ten minutes: open the design studio, upload your file, check the framing and move on.
