The short answerFather's Day is not the same day everywhere. France, UK, US, Canada: the third Sunday of June — 20 June 2027. Germany and Austria: Ascension Day — 6 May 2027. Australia and New Zealand: the first Sunday of September — 5 September 2027. The photo that works is rarely the posed portrait: him doing the thing he actually does, or an old photo of him holding you as a baby. Choose the object by whether he displays things or uses them — a mug gets used every morning, a framed print gets kept, a t-shirt only if you can picture him wearing it. Order two weeks ahead.

1. The date, by country

WhereRuleIn 2027
France, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, IrelandThird Sunday of JuneSunday 20 June 2027
Germany, AustriaAscension Day (Vatertag / Männertag)Thursday 6 May 2027
Australia, New ZealandFirst Sunday of SeptemberSunday 5 September 2027

The June date is the one most people mean, and it is stable from year to year. The German date moves with Easter, and the Australian one is in spring rather than winter — worth knowing in a family split across hemispheres.

2. Which photo

The posed family portrait is the default and almost never the best choice. Three that work much better:

Technically: use the original file from the camera roll, look for daylight, and check the eyes are sharp before anything else. If the good photo is a print from 1987, photograph it flat on a table near a window rather than at an angle — it works better than any scanner app on a phone.

3. Which object

If he…Then…From
Drinks coffee, has a desk or a workbenchA mug. Used every morning — more contact than anything on a wall.$23.00
Displays photographsA framed print, delivered assembled and ready to hang$55.00
Would genuinely wear itA t-shirt — but only if you can picture it. Otherwise it is a drawer gift.$23.00
Carries tools, shopping, a laptopA tote bag$35.00

The honest test for the t-shirt, which is the one people get wrong: picture him putting it on to go to the shops. If that image does not come easily, choose the mug. A photo t-shirt that is never worn is the saddest version of this gift, and it is the most commonly ordered.

4. For a grandfather

Same rules, one addition: a photo of him with the grandchildren beats a photo of the grandchildren alone. The subject is the relationship, not the children — and the photo of the children alone is one he probably already has.

If several grandchildren are giving together, one framed print with all of them beats four small separate gifts, and it is cheaper.

5. If he is no longer there

A photo of a father who has died is often the gift that means the most — to a mother, to a brother, to yourself. Two rules, the same as everywhere on this site: give it privately, and say what it is before it is opened. That single sentence lets the person react the way they actually feel.

There is a separate page on choosing the photo and the object in that situation: keeping a trace is written about an animal, but the method is the same.

6. When to order

Two weeks before, minimum. Printing to order takes 5 to 10 working days in the UK, Europe and the US and up to 15 elsewhere. For the third Sunday of June 2027, that means ordering comfortably by around 4 June 2027. The estimated arrival date is shown on every product page before you order.

In short

Before you order, the preview is computed in your own browser and nothing is transmitted; the print file goes to the printer at payment and is deleted after dispatch. Personalised items are exempt from the standard European right of withdrawal (Directive 2011/83/EU, article 16(c)), and anything that arrives damaged is reprinted at no charge.

Frequently asked questions

When is Father's Day in 2027?
France, UK, US, Canada: the third Sunday of June, 20 June 2027. Germany and Austria: Ascension Day, 6 May 2027. Australia and New Zealand: the first Sunday of September, 5 September 2027.
Which photo should I choose?
Rarely the posed portrait. Him doing the thing he actually does — garage, bike, barbecue, deckchair — or an old photo of him holding you as a baby.
Which object will he actually use?
A mug, in most cases: used every morning, which is more contact than a frame gets. A framed print if he displays photographs. A t-shirt only if you can picture him wearing it in the street.
When should I order?
Two weeks before: 5 to 10 working days in the UK, Europe and the US, up to 15 elsewhere.
What about a grandfather?
Same rules, plus one: a photo of him with the grandchildren beats a photo of the grandchildren alone. The subject is the relationship.
Can I include a photo of a father who has died?
Often yes, and it is frequently the gift that means the most — but privately, and say what it is before it is opened.
