Start from his hobby
The gift that feels like him is about what he does at the weekend. Find the photo that shows him in action, or the one of the thing he treasures:
- Him in action: at the waterside with his catch, on his bike, at the barbecue, in his veg patch.
- The thing he treasures: his motorbike, his old car, his dog. The free background-removal button (“Remove background (AI)” in the studio) cuts out the subject so it prints cleanly on the fabric.
- A line of his own: the thing he has always said, set in one of the ready-made text styles.
Humour and the childhood photo
A photo of him as a boy, with the haircut of the day, almost always makes the whole family laugh. Add a caption that teases him gently, or an in-joke (an inside joke, if you are American) that only you lot understand.
If the photo comes from an old album, photograph the print lying flat, in daylight. If it is small, the sharpen button (“Make the photo sharper (AI)” in the studio) improves it before printing. More caption ideas: the in-joke gift.
What to give him
