What to put on it
Short wins, because it has to be readable in a photo taken from a distance, often blurry, usually sent by message. A few that work:
- “Big brother” or “Big sister”, on its own, large. The version people understand fastest.
- With the date: “Big brother, March 2027”. Useful when you are telling the whole family at once.
- The count: “Big brother ×2” when there is already one.
- For twins: “I’m going to be a big sister. Twice.”
Add a photo if the announcement is for grandparents far away: the child’s face above the text makes the message personal rather than only funny.
Sizing, the real catch
