1. The dates, first
Hanukkah 5787 begins at nightfall on Friday 4 December 2026 and runs for eight nights, ending on Saturday 12 December 2026. As with every Jewish festival the day starts in the evening, so the first candle is lit on the evening of the 4th — which in practice means everything needs to be in the house by the afternoon of that Friday.
2. Eight nights is not eight Christmases
The commercial version of this festival, especially outside Israel, has drifted towards eight substantial presents. Most families who try it discover the same thing: by the fourth night the children barely look up, and the parents are tired and poorer.
The version that works, and that most households settle into, is a rhythm rather than a pile:
- One night with something real — usually the first or the last.
- Several nights with something small: a book, chocolate coins, something made.
- One night with nothing to unwrap at all — an outing, a game, people coming over.
Photo objects fit the middle category well, because they are small in price and large in attention: nobody opens a mug with their grandmother on it and says "another mug".
3. One photo, several nights
This is the practical trick. Rather than looking for eight ideas, take one photograph — the family, the grandparents, the dog, the summer — and let it become several objects.
| Object | Who it suits | Price, shipping included |
|---|---|---|
| Ceramic mug, 325 ml | The grandparents, an aunt, anyone with a morning routine | $23.00 |
| Ten A6 postcards | Family abroad — one photo, ten cards, posted through the week | $26.00 |
| 2027 wall calendar, 14 pages | The gift that keeps arriving all year, given on the last night | |
| Cotton tote bag | A teenager, a student, anyone who carries things | $35.00 |
| Framed print, ready to hang | The one substantial gift, for one night | from $55.00 |
They read as a series rather than as repetition, and the total is far below eight separate ideas. If the basket reaches ten items — likely in a large family — 10% comes off automatically, and 15% from twenty-five.
4. When the family orders together
Cousins, grandparents, three households in two countries. The practical version: agree the photo once, one person orders everything, and the cost is split afterwards. Shipping is included in each price, so the total is simply the sum of the prices — no delivery figure to argue about at the end.
Note that items may arrive in several parcels a few days apart, because each object is produced in the nearest workshop able to make it. Order with that in mind rather than panicking on 1 December.
5. The photo, in practice
One warning that saves a disappointing print: candlelight photographs do not print. They are lovely on a screen, and they are dim, very warm in colour and grainy — exactly the three things that come out muddy on ceramic or paper.
So either use a photo from earlier in the year, taken in daylight, or take the family photo in the afternoon of a winter Saturday rather than in the evening. Near a window, light behind you, no flash, burst mode. Ten minutes, and it works for the cards, the mug and the calendar at once.
If the gift includes the grandparents, take the photo with them in it rather than of the children alone — it is the version that gets kept, and the one they would choose themselves.
6. When to order
| Delivery to | Order by | Why |
|---|---|---|
| European Union | Thursday 19 November 2026 | 10 working days brings it to 3 or 4 December, before the first candle |
| United Kingdom, United States, Switzerland, elsewhere | Thursday 12 November 2026 | Up to 15 working days outside the EU |
Everything is printed to order, which is why nothing is ever out of stock — and why it is not instant. The estimated arrival date is shown on every product page before you order.
In short
- Hanukkah 2026: evening of Friday 4 December to Saturday 12 December.
- Eight nights, not eight big presents. One real gift, several small, one with nothing to unwrap.
- One photo across several objects beats eight separate ideas.
- No candlelight photos — daylight, in the afternoon.
- Order by 19 November in the EU, 12 November elsewhere.
Before you order, the preview is computed in your own browser and nothing is transmitted; the print file goes to the printer at payment and is deleted after dispatch. Personalised items are exempt from the standard European right of withdrawal (Directive 2011/83/EU, article 16(c)), and anything that arrives damaged is reprinted at no charge. You must hold the rights to the photo you upload.
